On 28th of Nov. I saw the article that our prosecution cleared the suspect of MOBIS.
(Original article : https://news.joins.com/article/23164458)
MOBIS was charged for unfair trade. There is the related article even in English : http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20180422000146
Fair Trade Commission(FTC) submitted a bill of indictment in Feb. 2018, stating that Hyundai MOBIS forced distributors to buy parts by using its superior status. FTC fined KRW 500,000,000(it’s about USD 446,000) to Hyundia MOBIS. FTC claimed that Hyundai MOBIS settled the excessive sales goals for each distributor for domestic aftermarket service parts from 2010 to 2013, even distributors have no intention of buying them at all.
FTC brought a charge of unfair trade against Hyundai MOBIS, but the prosecution cleared the suspect. Because there is no proper evidence that Hyundai MOBIS forced distributors. Secondly, there is no statement from any distributors that they have suffered because of it.
In my opinion, FTC wanted to charge monopoly against Hyundai. It it true that Hyundai rule the whole country. But it also wouldn’t be successful since there is no the exact evidence, even it’s true.
