Hyundai Motor Company opened CKD factory in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, Africa at 21th (local time) Feb.

According to a foreign press, the factory which Hyundai Motor established first time in East Africa can produce 10,000 unit of cars per year.

Wonhee Lee – the president of Hyundai Motor company visited Ethiopia for attending the opening ceremony. He said “We have a good opportunity in Ethiopia. I believe the economic growth of Ethiopia is faster than the other countries in Middle Africa.”

The cars which are assembled in this factory including trucks will be exported to the other countries of Africa.

Haile Gebrselassie – The joint ventured business partner of Hyundai Motor in local – states “This factory is enough big for Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Sudan.”

Haile Gebrselassie is the athlete hero of Ethiopia, who won twice in Olympic(10,000m men running) – 1996 in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney. He has sold Hyundai cars in his company “Marathon Motors” since 2009.
